This field has served as the setting for many noteworthy milestones. In the 1986-87 match against Pakistan, Sunil Gavaskar became the first batsman in Test history to reach the 10,000-run mark. In February 1994, Kapil Dev overtook Sir Richard Hadlee to set a new record for the most wickets taken on this field. Sachin Tendulkar later celebrated reaching 30,000 international runs on this same field in 2013. Additionally, this location hosted the 'Namaste Trump' event in February 2020 during former US President Donald Trump's visit to India.
